华为新推出的 Mate 60 Pro 被国外科技机构拆机后，确认为中国自研芯片，令国外一众惊讶连连，没想到在芯片封锁的艰难时刻，中国能够独立制造芯片。彭博社、CNN、《卫报》等纷纷报道。这次我们主要来看《华盛顿邮报》。
1️⃣teardown
我们先来看「拆机」怎么表达？名词版是 teardown。这个名词源自动词词组 tear down，原义是「推倒，拆除」建筑物。后来在科技圈有了「拆机」的意思。
A lot of the old tower blocks have been torn down to make way for new housing.
很多旧的高层建筑被拆除，让出地方来建造新房子。
2️⃣high-water mark
义如其名，指的是「高水位线」。但在外刊中，主要用来表示「成就的最高峰，全盛时期」，与 climax 类似。
His successful negotiation of the treaty was the high-water mark of his diplomatic career.
他在这项条约的谈判中获得成功，这是他外交生涯中的最大成就。
3️⃣tout sb as doing sth
我们前几个月学过「票贩子」的英文 scalper 和 tout。今日再相见，但物是人非。这里的 tout 变成了动词，表示「赞扬，吹捧」。经常和 as 构成搭配，如 tout A as B，或 tout sb as doing sth。这个词外刊常用，需要掌握。来看《经济学人》。

氢气被吹捧为公交车、卡车，甚至轮船和飞机的驱动手段。
4️⃣be on par with sth
意思是「与某事物的水平相同」。除了表示水平相同，还可以描述数量相同、比率相同、重要性相同等等。如果用成语来翻译的话，我们可以译为与某物「不相上下」或「不相伯仲」。本文是说，华为芯片采用的工艺与 2018 苹果 iPhone 芯片的工艺不相上下。
