1️⃣a spate of
a spate of 表示「大批，一连串」，但多指不好的事情，如 a spate of attacks 「一连串袭击」。
The spate of data, experiments and insights has had profound effects on the future of medicine.
2️⃣近义短语：a sequence of
He described the sequence of events leading up to the robbery.
3️⃣ consume
Americans are willing to tolerate time-consuming security procedures in return for increased safety.
常用搭配为 lax in doing sth。
The company has been lax in carrying out its duties.
