北京时间9月6日，FIA官方宣布了对皮亚斯特里的处罚结果。他因阻挡劳森，在正赛当中罚退三位起步。
根据官方文件显示，皮亚斯特里在调查中表示，自己没有收到关于维斯塔潘和劳森正在飞驰圈中的提示。当他快到1号弯时意识到维斯塔潘正在飞驰圈中，给维斯塔潘让路后，他已没有时间来反应阻挡劳森这件事情。
赛事干事认定，皮亚斯特里是无意中、且非必要地阻挡了劳森，因此处以正赛罚退3位的处罚。
