老牛湾地处内蒙古呼和浩特市清水河县西南部，位于晋蒙交界的黄土高原深处。
这里是明长城与黄河唯一“握手”之地，素有“天下黄河第一湾”美誉。
黄河在清水河县境内穿行65.6公里，自西向东流经至此，因山体阻挡，形成“几”字形转弯，在河床上冲出深邃的河道。
