当今，以建筑为代表的设计学科正面临一种新的危机：一方面，设计不断滑向脱离现实的抽象论述；另一方面，又迅速被人工智能、机器人与数字制造等技术浪潮所裹挟，陷入技术决定论的迷思。当思想与制造、价值与效率、创造与计算逐渐分离，设计本身所具有的引领未来的能力也正在被重新定义。

本论坛汇聚来自全球最具影响力的建筑师、软硬件工程师、教育家、企业家与设计实践者。他们并非置身实践之外的理论诠释者，也并非脱离思想框架的形式创造者，而是在社会行动、理论探索、教学研究与技术创新不断交汇的动态实践中持续推动时代变革的引领者。他们共同证明：真正改变世界的，从来不是理论本身，也不是技术本身，而是能够将两者不断融合、不断校准、不断创造新价值的设计实践。

立足粤港澳大湾区这一全球创新最活跃的地区之一，面对气候变化、地缘冲突、人工智能革命与未来人居重构等共同挑战，本论坛不仅是一次国际性的思想交流，更是一场关于设计本体的重新思考。

我们相信，未来的设计不应继续停留于建筑对象的创造，而应成为连接思想、科技、产业、社会与商学的系统性创造力；设计不应追随技术，而应赋予技术以方向；设计不应止于解决问题，而应持续提出更深层的问题。

我们将这种面向未来的设计观称为深度设计（Deep Design）——一种以实践驱动思想、以思想赋能技术、以协作为方法、以人类共同的高质量未来为目标的设计新范式。

Architecture, together with the wider design disciplines, stands at a critical turning point. As design discourse increasingly drifts toward abstract theorization on one hand and technological determinism on the other, its most essential capacity—the ability to shape meaningful futures—is being fundamentally challenged. In an age defined by artificial intelligence, robotics, digital fabrication, and planetary uncertainty, the central question is no longer how technology will transform design, but how design should guide technology.

This symposium brings together some of the world's most influential architects, educators, entrepreneurs, and design practitioners whose careers have consistently challenged the false separation between thinking, learning and making. They are neither theorists who interpret practice from a distance nor practitioners operating outside intellectual inquiry. Instead, they work within the dynamic territory where social action, critical reflection, technological innovation, and radical creativity continually reshape one another.

Situated within the Greater Bay Area—one of the world's most dynamic laboratories of technological innovation—and confronting the shared realities of climate change, geopolitical uncertainty, and the emergence of artificial intelligence, this symposium is more than an international exchange of ideas. It is an invitation to rethink the foundations of “design” itself.

We believe that the future of design extends far beyond the creation of buildings. Design must become the intellectual force that connects ideas with action, technology with humanity, research with industry, creatives with businesses, and imagination with responsibility. Technology alone cannot determine the future; only design can provide it with purpose, ethics, surprises and direction.

We call this emerging paradigm Deep Design: a creative practice-driven, intellectually grounded, and technologically empowered approach that synthesizes diverse forms of knowledge into meaningful action, enabling architecture to become an active agent in shaping the future of human quality of life.
