9月11日晚间，美国8月通胀数据出炉，8月核心消费者价格指数同比增长2.4%，预估为2.4%，前值为2.5%。8月核心CPI环比增长0.3%，预估为0.2%。美国8月CPI同比增长3.4%，预估为3.4%，前值为3.4%；环比增长0.4%，预期为0.4%。
美国8月CPI公布后，黄金、白银短线剧震，现货黄金一度跌破4300美元/盎司关口，为9月2日以来首次。随后，黄金、白银又快速反弹。截至20:40，现货黄金价格涨0.64%，报4344.18美元/盎司；现货白银价格涨1.34%，报64.40美元/盎司，刷日内新高。
据财联社报道，美国8月CPI公布后，交易员预计下周美联储加息的概率约为90%。
