据中国地震台网正式测定：10月13日07时20分在巴拿马以南海域(北纬7.65度，西经81.40度)发生6.1级地震，震源深度10千米。
据此前报道，美国地质调查局地震信息网消息称，巴拿马上皮塔洛萨地区附近当地时间9日12时56分发生7.6级地震。巴拿马大学地球科学研究所将此次地震定级为7.5级。强震后又发生逾百次余震。
