1935年，中央红军长征胜利抵达陕北后，中共中央在安定县瓦窑堡，也就是今天延安子长市瓦窑堡召开政治局扩大会议，这次会议确立抗日民族统一战线策略方针，为全民族抗战乃至中国革命最终胜利打下坚实基础。近年来，子长市统筹革命旧址保护与城市更新，传承红色基因、改善人居环境，让革命老区不断焕发新生机。
