菲尔兹奖得主曾参加的国际数学比赛，宁诺学子斩获一等奖！

这周，从保加利亚传来喜讯：在刚落幕的第33届国际大学生数学竞赛（IMC 2026）中，宁波诺丁汉大学数学与应用数学专业学生庄子渔、邵陈超表现优异，分别斩获一等奖和荣誉提名奖。

IMC是全球顶尖的本科生数学赛事，多位菲尔兹奖得主都曾是参赛选手。本届比赛中，宁诺学子与来自苏黎世联邦理工学院、伦敦大学学院、南洋理工大学、约翰霍普金斯大学等全球一流学府的超450名选手同台竞技，充分展现了宁诺学子的扎实功底与卓越实力。

系统集训夯实功底

首次国际赛场迎难而上

本次赛事历时两日，考题覆盖数学分析、抽象代数、数论、几何、组合数学等多个领域，对参赛者的知识广度、思维深度及临场解题能力提出了极高要求。这也是两位学子首次征战国际性数学竞赛。

赛前，学校特别组织了为期六周的系统集训，以提高他们的知识储备和解决问题的能力。

在此之前，庄子渔曾参与全国高中数学联赛、中国东南地区数学奥林匹克、丘成桐领军计划数学水平考试等多项国内高水平数学赛事：“很多数学知识搁置很久，遗忘程度很高。老师们的系统串讲帮我快速唤醒知识体系，也完善了我的数学底层框架。培训中我还接触到狄利克雷卷积等此前一知半解的概念，补齐了知识短板。”

对邵陈超而言，最大的挑战在于短期内掌握全新数学概念并迅速应用于难题，“每天培训结束后，我都会花大量时间整理知识点，把没解出的题复盘一遍，逐步适应国际竞赛的题型难度与思维要求。”

站上国际赛场，两人均表示是难得的历练，全程沉浸式和全球各地数学好手同台比拼，不仅收获了宝贵的实战经验，也清晰找到了自身后续需要补强的方向。

兴趣为基持之以恒

校园多元资源助力成长

庄子渔从小喜欢数学，沉浸数学难题时常常废寝忘食，“卡了很久的难题完整解出时，那种成就感无可替代。”这也是他坚持数学学习的核心动力，现在他依然保持自主拓展高阶数学内容的习惯，课前预习、课上吸收、课后复盘从不松懈。

邵陈超则特别分享了宁诺特色的学习支持体系：课程重视夯实基础，同时为学有余力的学生预留自主拓展空间。

“例如应用数学课会同步推荐进阶力学读物，图书馆也提供了丰富的原版教材资源。” 他还提到教授的办公室答疑时间（office hour），“教授们充满激情且极具耐心，提供一对一的深度交流，这种高自由度的学习模式让我获益良多。”

多年来，宁诺持续完善培养体系，为热爱数学、有志科研的学生提供师资、集训、参赛全链条支持，鼓励宁诺学子站上国际学术赛场，在全球数学赛事中稳定输出亮眼成绩。

UNNC students achieve top honours at International Mathematics Competition

Two University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) students have achieved outstanding results at the 33rd International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC 2026), with Ziyu Zhuang winning First Prize and Chenchao Shao receiving an Honourable Mention.

Held in Bulgaria, the prestigious competition brought together more than 450 undergraduates from leading universities worldwide, including ETH Zurich, University College London, Nanyang Technological University and Johns Hopkins University. The IMC has also previously attracted participants who went on to become Fields Medal winners, highlighting the competition’s standing among the world’s leading mathematics contests for university students.

For both Zhuang and Shao, this was their first international mathematics competition. To prepare them for the challenge, UNNC provided six-week training programme covering advanced mathematical concepts and problem-solving techniques, helping them strengthen their knowledge and develop the skills needed to compete internationally.

The students’ success reflects both their dedication to mathematics and UNNC’s commitment to providing talented students with opportunities to excel. Through dedicated academic support, intensive training and access to international competitions, the University continues to empower students with a passion for mathematics to pursue their potential and take their place on the global academic stage.
